Fourth Tenet of Transcendentalism: Confidence

The fourth tenet of Transcendentalism is confidence. Confidence is to always have confidence in who you are. Don't ever let anyone bring you down always love yourself. Believe in your ideas and in yourself and in the beauty of love.

 "Envy is Ignorance"
-Henry David Thoreau

Confidence is my favorite one. Not everyone in this world is the same, and not everybody has the same likes as you. Everyone is different in their own ways and you should be proud of it. Love yourself the way you are because if you envy people it will bring you lower. This is why I picked the quote by Thoreau because if you become yourself people may envy you and try to bring you lower but you believe in yourself and that is what is going to bring you higher. The picture was picked because I thought it was funny and its a great way to compare confidence to a muscle.

  1. I like how you emphasized on the fact that every one is different. We all have different taste in things and you really explained why you like this tent of transcendentalism.

  2. Now that you can see how confidence is needed, how can you use this in everyday life?

I'm glad you pointed out how everyone is different. Yes, everyone is different and we all have the need to fit in. So why do we feel like we need to fit in when we need to be original and make new discoveries?

  3. Thank you both for your comments. Yes i did state the fact that we all have to love each other in a way and Kristyna on your question on how we all have to be original but we try to fit in some were else is a good question. My point of view for your question is that its fine to try to fit in with people that have the same likes as you but you should still be original. Try to fit in in some things not everything cause that will just make you a follower. Have different likes it makes you look better and different(:
